A STADIUM full of fans clad in blue and gold held their breath, staring intensely at the replay of Fuifui Moimoi bursting through the Melbourne defence and grounding the ball.
And then those three green letters appeared on the screen: TRY!
Parramatta was back in the match; just six points separated them now.
But the victory we craved never came.
It was almost as if fate had given us just enough hope for a comeback only to cruelly take it from us.
The siren rang and, on cue, the heavens opened, perhaps even the Almighty was shedding a tear.
During the medal presentation the MC thanked Parramatta, labelling us ``the entertainers''.
I'm sure every blue and gold heart in the stadium would have traded that title in an instant for the title of champions.
Despite the gut-wrenching loss the Parramatta faithful showed their loyalty.
As the players walked around the field they were still greeted by thousands of waving flags from tearful Parramatta fans.
They are still the champions of our hearts.
