WENTWORTHVILLE crashed to an embarrassing 42-10 defeat against the Bankstown Bulls in the NSW Cup at Ringrose Park on Sunday.
The defending premiers were never in the game against the experienced Bulls.
The game was as good as over when three converted tries from a glut of possession saw Bankstown leading 18-0 after just 10 minutes.
A try to Mark Hendy in the 23rd minute gave Magpie fans hope, but it was false hope.
The Bulls scored three more unanswered tries after the break before Magpie hooker Kevin Kingston crossed for a four-pointer.
Two more Bulls tries in the closing minutes completed a dominant display.
This was the Magpies' second straight loss.
But they remain just a point behind leaders Western Suburbs, who are on 13, but Wenty have already had two byes.
The Magpies can expect a tough week from coach Rip Taylor.
Best for the Magpies were centre James Grehan, winger Mark Hendy and forwards Justin Horo and Marty Lewis.
Wentworthville meet Newtown next Saturday at Henson Park.
Meanwhile, Wentworthville's Bundaberg Red Cup team provided some compensation with a 20-16 win over Bankstown.
Flying winger Asa Waetford scored two tries and the Magpies are on 10 points, a win behind leaders Penrith and with a game in hand.
