A depleted Orioles suffered back-to-back losses to Manly in the first new-year round of the major baseball league. The Orioles went into the round placed in the top four but came out of it 4-2 midweek losers and 7-3 on Sunday. Orioles seconds continued their winning run, 4-2. Thirds lost 5-4 and under-18s won 4-2. Orioles host Canterbury at Fairfield Park on Sunday.

Blind cricket

Australasia's best blind and partially sighted cricketers will clash at The King's School this week. The school's J.S. White Oval will be the venue for the trans-Tasman one-day and Twenty20 international series between Australia and New Zealand from today until Sunday. The series follows the Australian blind cricket championships, that ended at the school yesterday.

Speedway racing

America's Donny Schatz has won the Scott Darley $50,000 at Parramatta City Raceway. Schatz won the feature in a car owned by Australian speedway legend Garry Rush, beating fellow American Tim Shaffer and three-time Australian champion Brooke Tatnell.
