Ex Magpie qualifies for Four Nations Cup

18 Nov, 2009 03:00 AM
RICHARD Kambo starred in Papua New Guinea's finals win in the Pacific Cup but Wentworthville could claim a part of his share in the victory.

PNG beat the Cook Islands' 42-14 and winger Kambo scored two tries.

The win has qualified PNG for the 2010 rugby league Four Nations Cup.

The Wenty connection?

Kambo played A grade for the Magpies before having to return to PNG because of visa problems.

Wenty secretary Allan McGowan said Kambo was a speedster with the best hands he had seen, and was able to throw a ball further than anyone he'd seen.

```I used to throw spears','' McGowan said Kambo had joked to him.
