Rovers will race the clock to have a home ground ready for their A-League entry in the 2011-12 season.

Chairman Ian Rowden said Rovers had asked for expressions of interest from Holroyd, Blacktown, Penrith, Campbelltown, Liverpool, Fairfield, Auburn and Bankstown councils and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.

He said the informal feedback had been ``overwhelming'' ahead of next week's formal response.

``We've been blown away,'' he said.

``Nobody has baulked at either the scale or the scope of the commitment required.

``There's such a strong desire in the west to make this happen.''

Rowden said the Rovers aimed for a base comparable to the $20 million centre of excellence the Central Coast Mariners unveiled at Tuggerah.

``You only get one chance to make a first impression, so we won't rush anything if it compromises the quality,'' he said.

``Our number one priority is to make this work from the community point of view.

``That's the basis of the partnership, because this club has to be built from the ground up.''

He said negotiations had begun with Parramatta, CUA, ANZ and Campbelltown Stadiums and the Sydney Showground as the prospective home ground.

``We'll be a western Sydney team and proud of it,'' he said.
