Bowler's simply Marr-vellous

03 Feb, 2010 01:32 PM
IT will take a lot to mar Parramatta first-grade cricket team's week.

That's the bad pun out of the way, and it refers to that man Marr. Swing bowler Andrew Marr has done it again.

The week before he had taken a season's best 5-35 as Parramatta won the limited-overs match against Mosman and scored a bonus point.

Marr went even better on Saturday, snaring 6-21 as Gordon were routed for 92.

Opener Adam Turrell scored 93 as Parramatta made 235, and Gordon will resume their second innings at 1-27 this Saturday.

An outright should shoot Parramatta into the top six.

Marr has shot to second on the first-grade bowling averages behind St George's new Sheffield Shield sensation Trent Copeland.

Marr has 34 wickets at 16.56.

Meanwhile, the NRL All Stars will train at Blacktown in their first public appearance since the team announcement.

Parramatta's Jarrod Hayne will join the cream of NRL talent at Laybutt Reserve from 1pm next Monday.

The players will spend an hour conducting a skills clinic for local juniors.

Big-time soccer returns to Parramatta Stadium when Sydney FC meet Perth Glory at 5pm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Kyle Perkins showed why the New York Yankees have signed him in the US major baseball league.

The Orioles' Perkins sent the ball to deep centrefield for a triple and cleared the bases against North Shore.

Perkins' hit was the highlight as the Orioles won the first game of the Sydney major league's latest round 8-2.

Orioles also won Sunday's return 8-0.

Frances Bondad is in good form going into this week's NSW Open, which starts on Friday at Oatlands Golf Club.

The Parramatta professional carded rounds of 71, 72 and 71 and finished five under par in the Royal Canberra Ladies Classic.
