THE Parramatta Wildcats' men had a testosterone-filled 115-93 win over the Bankstown Bruins in the 2009 Waratah Basketball League in Auburn on Saturday night.
The round-11 win was sweet revenge for head coach Dave Riemer, who had watched the Bruins crush an under-strength Wildcats 103-86 in the first round.
Parramatta fans saw both the best and the worst of their star-studded team; it alternated between brilliance and poor judgment (and execution) as the margin rose and fell like a pendulum.
In their brilliant moments, the Wildcats carved up their opponents with clinical precision and opening up huge leads of more than 20 and 30 points.
The bad moments saw the brilliance undone by the persistent and talented Bruins.
However, the Wildcats simply had too many big guns and the Bruins, playing without former Sydney Spirit NBL swing man Clint Reed, couldn't stop them.
Meanwhile, the youthful Wildcats' women at least improved on their first-round 104-32 loss, this time losing to the Bruins 93-37.
The two Parramatta teams head to the Hills Basketball Stadium this Saturday to play the Hornets, the women's game starting at 5pm and the men at 7pm.
