Orioles' batters dominate

28 Oct, 2009 03:00 AM
ORIOLES sent the North Shore Knights south with a dominant display in round six of the Sydney major baseball league.

The tone was set with an 8-1 win in the midweek game one.

With 13 hits across seven innings, Orioles batters dominated the base paths.

Josh Freeman, buoyed by his selection into the NSW Patriots squad for this season's Claxton Shield contest, blew the North Shore batters away from the mound.

Orioles won game two 7-0 on Sunday.

Dane Wiggs' two hits maintain him as the league's top batter with an average of 0.484.

Seconds won a rain-restricted game 4-1, thirds drew 3-3 and the under-18s out-hit North Shore 9-3.

Orioles host Cronulla Sharks at Fairfield this weekend, with firsts on Sunday.
