Budget delivers cycleway, tourism project and soccer facilities

15 May, 2008 02:56 PM
The Rudd Government's first federal budget will deliver a cycleway, tourism initiative and soccer facilities to Parramatta.

Parramatta MP Julie Owens said it would fulfill promises she made in the lead up to last year's election

"Here in Parramatta the budget has delivered $1.5 Million for the Parramatta to Toongabbie Cycleway; $500,000 for a new Tourism initiative and $150,000 to upgrade the soccer facilities at Binalong Park in Toongabbie, something I personally campaigned for at last year’s election," Ms Owens said.

Ms Owens said Budget 2008 had also put working families in Parramatta at the centre of the Rudd Government’s commitments to tackle inflation and lay the building blocks for a stronger, more modern Australia.

I am excited about the cycleway and am glad that Julie has delivered on her promise. I would have to say that I was worried about the promises she made. Its a different thing when you are in government and have to actually spend the money. But I don't have any reason to worry anymore.
