06 Feb, 2012 09:18 AM
A Pendle Hill man was charged with assault after holding his partner hostage in their house on Saturday night and breaking her nose.

About 11.45pm Saturday, February 4, a 32-year-old woman arrived at her unit on Stapleton Street, Pendle Hill, where her partner was damaging property.

Police officers said the 33-year-old man allegedly assaulted her and would not let her leave the location.

The woman escaped from the unit about 3am on Sunday, January 5 and contacted police.

Police and emergency services attended the location and found the man had left.

The woman was taken by NSW Ambulance Paramedics to Westmead Hospital for treatment to facial injuries and a broken nose.

Following extensive inquiries, the man was arrested at Sydney International Airport and taken to Mascot Police Station.

He was charged with kidnapping, reckless wounding, assault and two counts of destroying property.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Central Local Court today Monday, February 6.
