SITTING MP Julie Owens will re-contest Parramatta at the forthcoming federal election after being endorsed as the Labor candidate.
Ms Owens has held the seat since 2004 and was preselected unopposed by local ALP rank and file members.
``I'd like to thank Labor Party members in the Parramatta electorate for the faith they've placed in me to again represent them,'' Ms Owens said.
``The government's quick and decisive action to stimulate the Australian economy by investing in nation-building infrastructure has supported hundreds of thousands of Australian jobs in the face of the worst global financial crisis since the Great Depression.
``These stimulus measures have ensured that Australia emerged from 2009 as the only advanced economy to avoid recession.''
