Four speedcar race drivers from Tyrepower Sydney Speedway brought presents for patients at the Children's Hospital at Westmead last week.
The drivers made their return to the hospital following a visit in April when drivers brought along their Speedcar for the kids to sit in.
When the drivers found out some of the seriously ill children couldn't make it down to the foyer, they returned to visit them in their beds.
Anthony Brien is the defending Sydney Speedway Speedcar Champion and one of the four drivers who put on their fireproof racesuits and handed out presents to the children on Friday.
“The experience was really, really rewarding,” he said.
The 26-year-old driver from Toongabbie then went on to win the opening round of the 2010/2011 season the next day, just 24 hours after the Children’s Hospital visit.
“All the drivers gained a very valuable experience from the visit, and the way we were received was awesome. We felt like Santa Claus in a racesuit!" Anthony said.
“Sometimes we have a bad night on the racetrack. I crashed out of my first meeting this season, but it makes you realise just how lucky you are."
