Beauty, depth, opportunism

23 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
RIVERSIDE Theatres' education program begins today with a special performance of Namatjira, by playwright Scott Rankin.

The performance is linked to secondary students' areas of study including art and Aboriginal studies. Namatjira is the story of iconic Australian indigenous artist retold with the help of his grandchildren, third generation watercolour artists who fill the stage with a huge landscape drawing of their desert country. It captures the beauty, depth, opportunism, mateship and injustice that has shaped our country.

Riverside's education program features an interesting selection of drama, dance, workshops, talks and play readings that encourage secondary students to participate in theatre in all its different forms.
