Award for volunteer

15 Apr, 2009 04:00 AM
BEVERLEY Thornley (right), of Toongabbie, has been a volunteer Pink Lady at Blacktown Hospital for the past 35 years.

Seventy-seven year-old Mrs Thornley was recently honoured for her long service with a certificate of appreciation.

``I've been doing it for 35 years and I intend doing it for a lot longer,'' she said.

``I enjoy it and they [the Pink Ladies] are a great bunch of girls.''

Mrs Thornley began her days as a volunteer at Blacktown Hospital through the Toongabbie Baptists' Ladies Fellowship.

She said her children had grown up by that time and she wanted another worthwhile activity.
