About 10am today, a 25-year-old Girraween man attended Merrylands Police Station where he was taken into custody by officers from Strike Force Dorward.

The strike force was formed following an attack on two men in their Westmead home in the evening of Sunday, May 17.

Police allege a group of men forced their way into the house and threw acid into the faces of two male occupants.

One of the victims was also stabbed in the stomach and broke his ankle. Both victims were admitted to hospital suffering life-threatening wounds.

The 25-year-old man arrested today is already facing a charge of failing to disclose the identification of a driver or passenger of a vehicle.

He was earlier granted bail and appeared before the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 24 June.

Two other men were subsequently arrested and charged with concealing a serious offence.

Today’s arrest was the first directly related to the attack on the two men and the arrested man has been charged with attempted murder, break and enter with intent to commit murder and maliciously cast or throw corrosive fluid with intent to maim.

He is expected to face Central Local Court this afternoon.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.
