Dalai Lama all set to guide the spirit

04 Jun, 2008 03:30 PM
His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama is coming to Sydney Olympic Park this month giving Sydneysiders a rare opportunity to meet him.

The Nobel Peace Laureate will conduct five days of practice-orientated teachings at the Dome, Sydney Showground, from June 11 to 15.

Over five days, the Dalai Lama will explain why meditation is important to spiritual life generally, and teach the art and practice of meditation.

The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, an international ambassador for peace, compassion and tolerance, and one of the world's most revered men.

He will deliver one of his favourite teachings Stages of Meditation by Kamalashila.

Described by the Dalai Lama as a key that opens the door to all other major Buddhist scriptures, Stages of Meditation has been revered by Buddhists since it was written in the 9th century by the Indian scholar Kamalashila.

Ian Green, chairman of the group Dalai Lama in Australia, said: "We were surprised and delighted when His Holiness announced he would be returning to Australia to give this teaching.

"It is quite rare for His Holiness to deliver such extended, in-depth teachings anywhere in the world.''

Did Ms Stone say the earthquake was brought up by the Dalai Lama? Her words: “They are not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who is a good friend of mine," she said. "And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened, I thought, is that karma? When you are not nice, bad things happen to you." Analysis: Karma is a Buddhist law. The divine Buddha determines who to be punished and others praised. A living Buddha reports people’s behaviors to the divine Buddha. Wrong info was passed and the quake occurred in the Aba Tibetan&Qiang Autonomous Zone of Sichuan. Many Tibetan died but the Chinese gov was praised for its swift actions. If this is the karma as she claimed (based on the insider info from her good friend?), bad one was imposed upon the Tibetans while good one was on the gov. His holiness realized the mistake, and was too embarrassed to participate in a quake-relief effort. Instead, he toured the globe, as if he has nothing to do with the quake (alibi?). Does this make any sense?
